About Wineglobe

Preserving the purest expression of site, season and fruit.

Every maturation vessel influences a wine in its own way.

New French oak can bring structure, texture and aromatic complexity. Foudres provide gentle oxygen exchange. Concrete offers thermal stability and can build texture. Terracotta amphorae contribute their own unique textural expression without the addition of flavour. Stainless steel can preserve freshness through its inert and impermeable nature.

Wineglobe occupies a different space again. The philosophy is not based on what a vessel can contribute to a wine, but on what it can preserve

Crafted from borosilicate glass, it is designed to preserve the character, energy and terroir of a wine with extraordinary transparency, allowing vineyard, variety and vintage to remain at centre stage.

A Burgundian idea

The origins of Wineglobe lie in a simple observation made by Burgundian winemakers.

For more than 20 years, great Burgundy vintners would put the remaining wine in 20-liter demijohns. Before blending, they tasted the barrel and the demijohn separately. They always came to the same conclusion: they preferred the wine aged in glass to the wine aged in neutral barrels.

The question naturally followed:

What if there was a demijohn large enough to vinify and mature an entire parcel?

Wineglobe was born from that idea.

Why Wineglobe?

Winemakers working with Wineglobe commonly describe wines with:

  • Greater aromatic definition

  • Enhanced freshness and vitality

  • Increased precision and focus

  • Exceptional fruit purity

  • More transparent expression of terroir

  • Remarkable energy and length

For Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and sparkling base wines in particular, the results can be compelling.

Another tool in the winery

Wineglobe gives winemakers another lens through which to view their fruit.

Many wineries now mature the same parcel across several vessel types to understand how each influences the final wine, as well as to give blending options. Wineglobe frequently becomes the benchmark for fruit purity and site expression, helping inform decisions around oak selection, maturation regimes and blending.

Available in Australia in 220L and 400L

Wineglobe is now available in Australia in both 220L and 400L formats.

The original 220L vessel remains ideal for premium parcels, single vineyard selections and trial work, while the new 400L format delivers a significantly more attractive cost per litre option.

Both sizes deliver the same philosophy: preserving the truest expression of the wine itself.
